The Faculty of History and Archaeology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens established a new international and peer-reviewed journal on Archaeology in 2018. The Athens Review of Archaeology (AURA) features contributions in Greek and English on a broad range of topics. The journal is dedicated to the publication of original research articles and reports focusing on, or related to the archaeology, art and material culture in the broader Greek world, from the earliest Prehistory to the Modern Era. The topics “the Eastern Mediterranean and the Near East”, “Environmental Archaeology”, “Archaeometry”, “Museology” and “Computer Applications in Archaeology” are also addressed. A section with book reviews is also included.
AURA is issued annually as an open access journal (ISSN 2623-3428). The articles are not yet tagged with a doi but accessible through www.academia.edu. A print edition is also available (ISSN 2623-3436).
AURA is complemented by the AURA Supplement series that shares the same areas of interest with the journal. The supplements are planned to comprise studies in Greek or English, which are too long to be included as articles in the journal. Apart from monographs the supplements are planned to incorporate also edited volumes, conference proceedings, as well as publications of excavations, archaeological material or works of art.
The volumes are published irregularly as pdf files on the website of the journal. The first volume of the series was released in May 2019 in two volumes:
E. Mantzourani / I. Voskos, Η Ανασκαφή του Νεολιθικού Οικισμού Καντού Κουφόβουνου στην Κύπρο. Μέρος Β': Τα Κινητά Ευρήματα = Excavation at the Neolithic Settlement Kantou Kouphovounos in Cyprus. Part B’: The Moveable Finds. AURA Supplement 1 (Athens 2019)
